👸 Pegula Claims Dubai Crown 👸

Jessica Pegula capped a stellar week in Dubai with her tenth career title, dismantling Elina Svitolina 6-2, 6-4 in Saturday's final to claim her first WTA 1000 trophy outside North America. The 31-year-old dropped just one service game across 63 minutes, winning 73 percent of points on serve. After surviving back-to-back three-setters against Amanda Anisimova in the semifinals and Clara Tauson, Pegula delivered what she called "almost a perfect match" when it mattered most, calling the title "a great birthday present" ahead of turning 32 today.
The Dubai triumph continues a remarkable six-month run that has established Pegula among the sport's elite. Now 13-2 to start the 2026 season, the American has reached seven consecutive semifinals dating back to last year's US Open, finally converting that consistency into silverware. Sitting just 35 points behind Coco Gauff at world number five, Pegula credited a return to basics with coach Mark Knowles for her resurgence. "We kind of went back to emphasizing how I play tennis," she explained, focusing on taking the ball early and improving footwork efficiency. For someone who bloomed late and battled injuries for years, Pegula's current form suggests she's only now discovering her true ceiling.
👌 Alcaraz Extends Perfect Start to 2026 👌

Carlos Alcaraz produced a performance for the ages in Saturday's Doha final, obliterating Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-1 in just 50 minutes to claim his 26th career title and second of 2026. The world number one broke serve in the opening game and never looked back, hitting 19 winners against just nine unforced errors while going five-for-five at net in what he ranked among his "top 10, top 15" career performances. Fils, who had troubled Alcaraz before and upset Jakub Mensik in the semis, had no answer for the Spaniard's relentless aggression, eventually smashing his racquet in frustration after watching another backhand fly past him for a second break in the second set.
The Doha title extends Alcaraz's flawless start to 2026 to a perfect 12-0 and caps a stunning stretch of tennis that has seen him reach 12 finals in his last 13 tournaments since last April, winning nine titles along the way. Fresh off completing the career Grand Slam at the Australian Open as the youngest man in history, Alcaraz has now won titles in 14 different countries and extended his outdoor hard court winning streak to 30 consecutive matches. At just 22 years old and already possessing seven Grand Slam titles, the Spaniard shows no signs of rust, letdown, or loss of focus following his Melbourne triumph, moving onto Indian Wells in two weeks with all the momentum in the world.

Sebastian Korda captured his third career title in Delray Beach, defeating Tommy Paul 6-4, 6-3 in extreme wind conditions during his second week with new coach Ryan Harrison. The victory marks a full-circle moment five years after reaching his first ATP final at the same venue, ending a difficult stretch of injuries and a 2-7 finals record.
Venus Williams received a main draw wild card for Indian Wells singles and doubles, returning to the WTA 1000 event for the first time since 2024. The 45-year-old three-time semifinalist will partner with Leylah Fernandez in doubles, reprising their US Open quarterfinal pairing. Williams is currently 0-3 on the season after first-round exits in Auckland, Hobart and the Australian Open.
Alexandra Eala jumped from world number 47 to a career-high 31 after reaching the Dubai quarterfinals with an upset of seventh seed Jasmine Paolini for her third career top-10 win. The 20-year-old Filipino has climbed over 100 spots in one year and is the only woman from the Philippines ever to reach the WTA top 100.
Arthur Fils added former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic to his coaching team on a trial basis after returning from a seven-month back injury layoff that sidelined him following Roland Garros. The 21-year-old Frenchman reached the Doha semifinals this week, upsetting eighth seed Jiri Lehecka before falling to world number one Carlos Alcaraz in the final.
Alexander Zverev and Alex de Minaur committed to the 2026 Laver Cup at The O2 in London from September 25-27, joining Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz. Zverev will make his seventh appearance for Team Europe as the event's all-time leading points scorer, while de Minaur returns to Team World after winning all three matches in San Francisco last year.
