🔮 Roland Garros Week 2 Crystal Ball Predictions 🔮

Men's Championship Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz
The defending champion's path looks manageable with Tommy Paul in the quarters, followed by either Tiafoe/Musetti in the semis before likely facing top seed Jannik Sinner in the final. Alcaraz's 15-1 clay record this season and Grand Slam dominance over Sinner could propel him in their first of many Grand Slam final meetings. His recent Rome victory over Sinner positions him to claim his fifth major title.

Men's Bold Take: Tiafoe Stunner
Frances Tiafoe will shock Lorenzo Musetti in their quarterfinal clash and push Alcaraz to five sets in the semifinals. The American's "hard-court tennis on clay" approach and perfect record without dropping a set thus far could produce fireworks against the Spaniard. Tiafoe's explosive power game will test Alcaraz like no opponent has this tournament, setting up a potential classic battle.

Women's Championship Prediction: Aryna Sabalenka
The world number one finally breaks her French Open curse after reaching six finals in eight tournaments this season, showcasing unmatched consistency throughout 2025. Her path through Qinwen Zheng, then ÅšwiÄ…tek/Svitolina in the semis, and Coco Gauff in the final sets up her maiden Roland Garros triumph. Sabalenka's improved movement and tactical adjustments will prove decisive as she progresses through these later stages.

Women's Bold Take: Svitolina's Revenge
Elina Svitolina will defeat three-time defending champion Iga ÅšwiÄ…tek in their quarterfinal, ending the Pole's bid for a fifth French Open title. The Ukrainian's dramatic comeback against Paolini shows she's peaking at the perfect time, fueled by motivation to represent her country during challenging times. Her 0-4 Roland Garros quarterfinal record won't define her against a vulnerable ÅšwiÄ…tek struggling with form.

Five of the top eight men’s seeds advanced to the Roland-Garros quarterfinals with little trouble. Jannik Sinner cruised past Andrey Rublev in straight sets, extending his Grand Slam win streak to 18. Carlos Alcaraz overcame a slow start to defeat Ben Shelton in four, later admitting he "fought against myself in the mind" before settling in. Lorenzo Musetti claimed his first top 10 slam win, outlasting Holger Rune in four to reach his second major quarterfinal. Novak Djokovic notched his 100th Roland-Garros win, beating Cameron Norrie and advancing to his 16th straight quarterfinal in Paris.

Frances Tiafoe and Tommy Paul made history as the first American men to reach the French Open quarterfinals since Andre Agassi in 2003. Tiafoe hasn't dropped a set all tournament, matching Agassi’s 1995 run, while Paul followed two five-setters with a smooth win over Alexei Popyrin. In the biggest upset of the round, World No. 62 Alexander Bublik stunned fifth seed Jack Draper to become the first Kazakhstani man to reach a Grand Slam quarterfinal. He’ll face Sinner next.

Title favorites mostly navigate their way to the quarterfinals with varying degrees of drama. World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka powered past Amanda Anisimova, continuing her quest for a maiden French Open title. Second seed Coco Gauff advanced past Ekaterina Alexandrova to maintain her strong clay court form. Most challenging, four-time champion Iga ÅšwiÄ…tek pulled off a dramatic comeback against Elena Rybakina, trailing by a set and a break before storming back to victory. The quarterfinal lineup of Sabalenka vs. Qinwen Zheng and ÅšwiÄ…tek vs. Elina Svitolina promises second-week fireworks.

World No. 361 Lois Boisson stunned third seed Jessica Pegula in a thrilling fourth-round upset. The French wild card, playing in her first Grand Slam main draw after missing last year's tournament due to an ACL tear, rode the electric Court Philippe-Chatrier crowd to complete one of the biggest upsets in recent French Open history. Her fearless power and clutch serving have transformed her into the home crowd’s most beloved figure. She now faces sixth seed Mirra Andreeva in the quarterfinals.
